FOREST EDUCATION

FOREST EDUCATION

Having adapted the Scandinavian model of forest nurseries, we’ve adopted our curriculum following the guidelines of the Ministry of National Education to enhance the opportunities for children to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Children learn through constant interaction with the natural environment, subconsciously acquiring knowledge and such an arrangement is extremely beneficial to them.

What are the benefits of a forest education?

HEALTH BENEFITS

Enhanced resistance thanks to constant activity outdoors irrespective of temperature and weather conditions, following the rule – “ there is no bad weather just the wrong clothes”.
Lower stress levels through colour therapy: green – calming effect, blue – builds up energy and relaxes.
Lower risk of developing dysfunctions such as ADHD, allergies, overweight or depression.
Improved motor skills, such as balance, coordination and agility through constant activity outdoors and walks.

BENEFITS FOR THE INTELECT

Acquiring knowledge in a neutral manner with no clear distinction between fun and education.
Improved concentration skills, which further fosters knowledge acquisition.
Uncurbed development of imagination and observation skills – nature is full of stimuli that improve the child’s senses of vision, hearing and touch and allows them to enter the vibrant world of new experiences.
Creative approach to learning and fun through unrestrained access to such plain objects as stones, sticks or plants.
Enhanced ability to solve problems and awareness of one’s own strengths, which builds children’s self-confidence and independence.

BENEFITS FOR THE SPIRIT

Enhanced social interaction – exploring meadows and forests away from the cosiness of the nursery’s playrooms boosts the feeling of belonging in the group.
Raising self-awareness through experiencing one’s own independence in nature.
Shaping children’s attitudes to respect the natural environment.

WHERE ARE WE LOCATED?

FIND US IN STABŁOWICE

We are located in Stabłowice, in the vicinity of green areas not far from meadows and Las Stabłowicki (Stałobwice Forest). The school premises include a garden with flowers, vegies and herbs that children tend to and grow.
Our facilities include a building, where children have their meals, rest or may use the bathroom, but an overwhelming majority of the time we spend outdoors, in the garden, roaming the meadow or in the forest.
Exploring the world outside is our priority yet safety is never compromised especially when the quality of the air is concerned, so before we set off on another quest air quality is always carefully checked.

BILINGUALISM

Our nursery is bilingual and acquiring a language is a natural process based on children being immersed in the language. Pupils are constantly surrounded by the language in its natural setting, in a variety of everyday situations hence, children learn to use the language in its most natural way while learning new words is but a piece of cake, yum and fun!

At our school all staff can speak Polish and English.

EMOTIONAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

We focus on the development of our children’s emotional and social skills as we believe that constant interaction with nature fosters gentleness and empathy. Our nursery represents boutique style; we teach mixed-age groups and the children-teacher ratio does not exceed eight children in care of one carer. Such arrangement enhances social development in older children, who learn to help the young ones, while juniors acquire skills observing their seniors.

Respect for the child and his or her choice is of crucial importance to us. We pay special attention to forming partnership between teachers, children and parents. We do not apply punishment and rewards.
